FYC 4941 Practicum -Analysis of Field Experience

Note: This form is to give you an idea of the contents of the final report. The requirements are subject to change according to the professor teaching.

This report is to be your assessment of your entire field study experience. This paper should cover an assessment of all of your objectives, highlight your most rewarding experiences, frustrations and problems and describe what was the most significant thing you learned about yourself from the internship.

Review the objectives for the course, focus in on your own objectives and assess the degree to which you have achieved each objective. Discuss what experiences you had which helped and/or hindered achieving your goals. Describe what you would change in your experience to enhance your achieving the goals if you were to continue your internship. Include examples of three to five of the most rewarding learning experiences you have had. Discuss major frustrations, setbacks or problems you encountered and describe how you handled them. Write at least a paragraph describing the most important thing you learned about yourself during the field experience.

Below is a list of some questions that may help you in writing the paper, if your still not sure how to begin.

What were your goals?
Were your learning goals achieved? Explain.
What knowledge and skills did you gain that could be used in future work?
What knowledge and skills from your course work to date contributed to this assignment?
What other knowledge and skills prior to this work experience would have been helpful?
What skills/knowledge are lacking that you need to acquire?

Requirements for the Assignment

The paper should be no less than four pages of text in length. It should be typewritten (with a computer word processor), double spaced, and the cover page should not be counted.

The content and mechanical construction of your discussion will be evaluated in terms of the following criteria:

A. Organization:

Your paper should be well organized and coherent. Please use 12 point font and 1 inch margins.

B. Form and Grammar:

Careful proofreading of your paper prior to submission is expected. Please use your spell checker. Students who feel uneasy about their writing skills are encouraged to visit the UF Writing Center at 2109 Turlington Hall (free of charge to all UF students).

In addition to the four⁺ pages of content, your final report should also include; a letter from your supervisor indicating the completion of your required hours, an outline of your activities for the practicum and your daily journal.
